Website and Card Security

Security is probably one of the most significant concerns for both the buyer and the retailer during an online transaction. In reality an online transaction is probably more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone or by fax, as the information transmitted online is highly encrypted using complicated logarithm combinations.

Website Security

When making a payment a secure link is set up between your browser and our server. You will notice that the address will change from http:// to https:// indicating a secure server and that a padlock will appear at the bottom of the page. Our website is Thawte SSL 123 certified. It guarantees information privacy and protects information in transmission between your web browser and our web server using 256, 128, 56 or 40-bit encryption, depending on web browser capability.

Please note that we only keep personal information on our website in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. We do not take credit card details on our website. This process is done on the payment provider's website i.e. Protx.

CARD SECURITY

Consumer Credit Act

if you are a UK resident using a UK issued card for a transaction over £ 100 you are automatically protected by Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. This means that if a trader fraudulently charges your card for something that you did not order then the credit card company are equally liable for the debt. In practise this means that the credit card company would refund you for the fraudulent charge whilst making the corresponding charge directly to us. Given the above, in practise putting your card details into a secure Internet site are much safer than giving them over an unsecured telephone line.
